The upbeat, confidence-building children’s song “Special Powers” was co-written by Jim Duchesneau and Barbara Lewis. (click below to listen!)
Jim and Barbara conceived of the idea for the song, “Special Powers” in early April, 2020. They knew that some children were having a hard time dealing with the effects of the pandemic: staying at home, not seeing friends, feeling frightened by the troubling daily news about COVID. In writing “Special Powers,” Jim and Barbara hoped to lighten the spirits of young children with a song that talked about how children have their own “special powers” to help them get through…Jim Duchesneau aka Jacquot, was a children’s performer and educational songwriter for close to 40 years.
He has been nominated twice for Juno Awards for best children’s album, recorded 15 CDs and performed for close to 1 million kids. He is about to publish a book to accompany 25 songs written to help people experiencing mental health issues.
Barbara Lewis is a singer/songwriter and inspirational vocal coach based in Montreal. She performs powerful folk and pop songs (in Canada and other countries) that are both entertaining and highly emotional. With her wide-range, classically-trained voice, vulnerable stage presence and elegant storytelling ability, she is known as “a hugely gifted singer, a born communicator.”
